Sikory produces award-winning wine and is one of a number of new wineries that have recently been built in the Krasnodar region of Russia, near the city of Novorossiysk. The brand Sikory and the cultural heritage of its owner form a starting point for this project. Traditional Ukrainian embroidery patterns are reinterpreted, deconstructed and put back together to form new patterns, both in two and in three dimensions and in various scales. The main motif, the ancient eight-point star, has been chosen for its symbolism. It traditionally stood for the sun and, later on, the Virgin Mary and the life itself. The brand logo is used in a similar way – shaped into abstract patterns on the floor, the ceiling and the custom-made perforated metal elements. The design is multilayered, playing with the juxtaposition of materials and functions, resulting in an interesting experience and a multifunctional space.
