Dust Cutter, A Modern Urban Saloon
Arizona, United States
All project descriptions are provided by SBID Awards entrants.
Designed towards millennials, baby boomers and business meetings, this reimagined bar is a modern interpretation of southwestern cowboy culture. Dust Cutter is a ‘modern urban saloon’, a hip bar and eatery located in downtown, Phoenix Arizona. Its name is derived from the western colloquialism for a strong drink. The open plan activates interaction; garage doors invite locals to hang-out. Equestrian over-scaled elements integrate visual panache. Hard surfaces prevail yet intimacy and conversation flows. Wood beams suspended from thick ‘frayed’ rope knotted into over-scaled bolts absorb sound and creates an acoustic pillow, allowing conversation through authentic detail.
