Serai Bangsar was designed as a timeless family abode for a family with a teenage son; a living space filled with a sophisticated mix of personal touches, quiet elegance and natural elements. It was envisioned as a home aligned with the owners’ characters and one which grew with them, adhering to Chinese feng shui elements. The interior spaces consisted of well concealed functional and storage spaces and were designed to serve multiple different purposes observed from lifestyles of the family; there were areas for family gatherings, entertaining guests as well as private spaces for each family member to use and enjoy. Composition, people and materials are key elements in the design. Layering contrasting textures such as smoked black timber veneers, bronzes, tropical wood and taupe tones were used to enhance spatial interest. Artisanal detailing to feature walls redefined a tranquil yet luxurious ambience for this family home to live, eat and relax.
