PURO Hotel, Poland
London, United Kingdom
All project descriptions are provided by SBID Awards entrants.
Puro Hotel is located in Łódź, a post-industrial playground where the country’s first cinema was born alongside the booming textile industry. Standing in-between the lavish Neo-baroque Poznański Palace and the renovated factory complex Manufaktura, Puro is an organic showcase of the city that fuses industrial heritage with contemporary culture. With its snug on-site cinema and event spaces, it pays homage to a city so intimately linked to film. SUPERFUTURE’s goal was to offer a multi-functional space that could adapt to different situations and offer alternative operational opportunities without losing connection to the rest of the hotel design. This connection to the local context and the city’s culture were taken as an inspirational source in the creation of this contemporary reinterpretation of a classic experiential cinema memory.
