Waterside Home

Emma Painter Interiors was commissioned to restore a sense of place to this original 1920s mill worker’s cottage: creating a stylish contemporary home full of personality.

Each space was layered with colour, texture and pattern and bespoke cabinetry was installed to create the flow that was missing, providing intuitive movement through the rooms, always with a mind to the stunning views across the water to the open sea beyond. The client’s existing collected pieces were incorporated into the design with new curated items, including Artwork, positioned throughout. Each detail was carefully sourced down to the last guest’s tooth-mug.

The re-design took in three outside spaces, presenting a fabulous opportunity to really ground the home in its setting and make the most of the inside-outside coastal lifestyle on offer. All design decisions were made with the client at the centre. The result is a welcoming home full of character.
