The University Enterprise Zone (UEZ), hosted by Queen Mary University of London (QMU) and funded by Research England, is a new innovation space in the heart of Whitechapel in East London. NBBJ designed the University Enterprise Zone to provide a range of modern and flexible workspaces for early-stage digital health and bio-engineering businesses to grow whilst strengthening collaboration between QMU and local businesses. Housed within the QM Bio Innovation Centre, the workspaces have also been designed to adapt to scientific research and laboratory use in the future.

To create a truly collaborative environment, UEZ creates dedicated workspaces for each tenant, as well as shared offices, meeting rooms and amenities. Meeting rooms can flex to offices should additional space be required, while offices on the lower ground are changeable to laboratory/maker space. Large, glazed openings provide excellent visual connectivity from office desks, meeting rooms as well as between floors.
