The Atlas Penthouse
London, United Kingdom
All project descriptions are provided by SBID Awards entrants.
Perched aloft a 38-story landmark building in Shoreditch, this penthouse apartment oozes style and confidence. The clean-lined boldness of the building sparked Art Deco-inspired imagery in the minds of Angel O’Donnell, which paved the way for reflective surfaces, high-gloss lacquers, sumptuously padded headboards and arresting art.
Couple this with interesting objet and an eclectic mix of furniture – most of it designed by the studio, notably the plush velvet sofa and rosewood dining table – and you end up with a space that looks like it’s matured over years rather than months.
The client wanted to charge record-breaking rent for this place – so AODs’ designs had to attract tenants with deep pockets and a keen eye for design. They delivered – as the apartment was snapped up within days of being on the market. Better still, it achieved three times the highest ever recorded monthly rent in the area.
