JOI-Design was commissioned to redesign the acclaimed fine dining venue, now named ‘Restaurant am Fleet’, in the Steigenberger Hotel Hamburg. The aim was to maintain the beloved aesthetic while infusing a modern energy. Situated on Fleetinsel island, the hotel has been a cultural asset in the city since the 1990s. The redesign embraced Hamburg’s nickname, ‘the pearl,’ with white finishes and organic shapes reminiscent of pearl rings and waves. The original design’s rippled stucco wall feature was referenced with embedded light strands, while energy-efficient lighting and durable materials ensure longevity.
