The client lives in an exquisitely designed architectural residence wanted to turn an old room into a private bar and poolroom. The scope was to create something special befitting the high-end fit out the rest of the residence had. The existing room on the initial visit was cold but South-facing with not a lot of natural light. German Kitchens designed the space with the main feature centred around the illuminated benchtops and splashback using a unique translucent Onyx from Iran, paired with a deep structured veneer to create texture, depth and interest. A recycled timber floor was chosen to allow the contrast with the fine lines on the cabinetry and ark back to the good old bars where the floors were a well-trodden path of customers and spillages. Monochromatic neutral tones allow the natural Onyx to star, and the colour of the spirit bottles to become the feature.
