As one of the main trading hubs on the Maritime Silk Road and the centre of development of shipbuilding during the Song Dynasty, the rich history of Quanzhou served as a key source of inspiration for this project. The design weaves elements of this unique trade port into the interiors, with strong Maritime influence and references to water throughout.

The design of the Prajna Spa embraces the 300-year-old tradition of releasing water lanterns, a practice that originated during the Qing Dynasty. Well-preserved in Quanzhou, the activity symbolises the good wishes of the community and serves as a prayer for blessings.
