At the initial meeting it was clear GIULIO was looking to challenge the existing retail format, wanting instead to create a gallery space with numerous touch points. Stimulating visitors in a living space where they would want to spend time and immerse themselves in the beauty of the space, surrounded by globally researched and passionately curated designer collections of apparel, footwear and accessories.
gpstudio’s original idea for GIULIO was driven by the concept of ‘a space not a store’, as an ever-evolving theatre of curated ideas blurring the boundaries between fashion, art, design and digital. Attention to detail was crucial, as well as authenticity in materials and simplicity in form where old and new sit in harmony and contrast. Innovation and craft have been juxtaposed to create an environment which challenges the future of retail as a social space and its role within the community.
