John Booth x FLOOR_STORY is a series of hand-made rugs that remain faithful to the creative output of the artist, illustrator and ceramicist.

A graduate of Central St Martins, John Booth is famed for his cartoonish, colourful style that has seen him collaborate with Fendi in a range of backpacks, t-shirts and holdalls, join House of Voltaire with ceramics and create textiles for Zandra Rhodes.

We have come together with John to create five extraordinary hand-made rugs that capture his bold, painterly style and bring colourful, joyous creativity to the floor.

Giovanni is inspired by John’s original drawings for stoneware pieces under House of Voltaire, while Technique captures the essence of the scribbles, fills and bold strokes that typify his work. In Marigold Flower, Daisy Flower and Cosmos, we’re presenting a series of limited-run hand-woven designs that make owning a John Booth truly accessible.

In an intensively collaborative process over several development sessions, we worked closely with John to hand-pick yarns and work through the translation of his original artwork. Translating the original into workable 100-knot quality rugs using wool and viscose to add pops of lustre where necessary, the final pieces stay as close as possible to his original design drawings.

To create the definition needed to accurately reproduce John’s bold lines and distinct colour transitions, Giovanni and Technique are ethically hand-knotted in Nepal by Goodweave certified makers in a process that’s incredibly intensive. Marigold Flower, Daisy Flower and Cosmos are hand-woven in India to create a quality that’s affordable for many consumers.

John Booth, says on his rugs with FLOOR_STORY, “I use a mixture of different materials in my work, which I feel has come through well in finished pieces. My original marks and textures have been translated brilliantly and I chose every single yarn colour, so I feel they are a true representation of my design work.”
