Studio No. 33
Project No. 182
Toronto, Canada
All project descriptions are provided by SBID Awards entrants.
Studio No. 33 was commissioned by returning clients to design this new build residence for a couple whose grown children and grandchildren gather often. The goal was a home that feels quiet day to day, yet opens up to host the extended family. The studio looked to mid-century design for inspiration, drawn to its calm, grounded sensibility, suited to a home meant to feel restful and lively in turn. That language carries through curved millwork, a sculptural staircase, and a tactile palette of white oak, Arabescato marble, and travertine, layered with ambient lighting in place of overheads.
