MoYin Architecture was commissioned to design Aqua Retreat, a private family residence in Ningbo, China. The scheme transforms an underutilised basement into the home’s emotional heart by integrating an 8-metre ecological aquarium alongside sauna, wellness and private gym zones. Mirror-polished stainless steel ceiling panels visually extend the 2400mm ceiling volume beyond 5000mm. A tensioned wood-grain acoustic fabric screen conceals the home theatre, whilst a cabinet-integrated cosmic bowling lane creates interactive play space for children. FSC-certified teak balances the cool aquatic palette throughout the space.
