The Milan headquarters for Zurich Italia and Zurich Bank transforms a historic building into a contemporary workplace. The existing structure was retained and informs the design response which balances the classical structure with a contemporary organic interior language featuring curvilinear ceilings, flexible drapes fluid flooring, a biophilic courtyard, bespoke lighting and natural material finishes. This balance between old and new is continued through all levels. An accessible public and client facing ground-floor, adaptable workspaces, and a modular Conference Centre ensure the building serves every scale of use. The project holds LEED Platinum, WELL Bronze, and BREEAM Very Good certification.
