All project descriptions are provided by SBID Awards entrants.
Interaction and x+why transformed Arding & Hobbs, a Grade II-listed 1910 drapery store in Clapham, into a hospitality-led workspace and members’ club shaped by heritage and craft. The ‘Faded Glory’ concept drew on the building’s patina, with restored features, reclaimed materials and bespoke detailing creating a layered, atmospheric interior. Centred around the stained-glass dome, the scheme combines coworking, serviced offices and social spaces within a single environment that shifted from day to night. Designed to celebrate the building’s history, the design short-life fit-out norms while returning a long-vacant landmark to active, community-focused use.
