The Dining IRODORI
Tanabe, Wakayama, Japan
Tokyo, Japan
All project descriptions are provided by SBID Awards entrants.
The Dining IRODORI is a destination restaurant within Tokyu Harvest Club Nanki Tanabe, inspired by the cultural connection between Japan’s UNESCO World Heritage Kumano Kodo and Spain’s Camino de Santiago. Reimagining dining as a journey, the design transforms a long circulation route into an immersive pilgrimage-inspired experience. Local materials, including Kishu cypress, natural stone, and handcrafted finishes, are combined with Spanish antique artefacts and bespoke artworks. At its heart, a live kitchen blends Spanish tiles, a Japanese irori-inspired setting, and Kishu Binchotan charcoal, creating a unique cultural dialogue through architecture, food, and hospitality.
